The mayor of Ponte da Barca, Augusto Marinho, today asked the Minister of Territorial Cohesion that the reduction of tolls on highway 3 (A3), between Braga and Valença, be included in the interior enhancement program.
“The A3 presents itself today as the main route connecting the municipalities of Alto Minho to the region in which it is located, and to the country, as well as being the main route of access to Galicia”, highlights the social-democratic mayor Augusto Marinho, quoted in a statement sent today to newsrooms.
According to the mayor of Ponte da Barca, in the district of Viana do Castelo, that highway “is really important for the promotion and dissemination of the potential of the municipality and Alto Minho, strategic for the industrial and business location, for tourism and for attraction investment ”.
For Augusto Marinho, “like other roads in the interior of the country where the reduction of tolls is foreseen, the Alto Minho as a territory of the interior and of low density, cannot be harmed”.
“Quite the contrary, as there are financing mechanisms in which the eventual reduction in the value of tolls can be welcomed, as is the case with the program for upgrading the interior, which replaced the national program for territorial cohesion”, he reinforces.
For the mayor, he stresses that “the current executive has defined economic development as a priority for municipal action, and that this measure of goodwill by the Government, can guarantee greater competitiveness and attractiveness for companies, generating employment and income, as well as guaranteeing fixing people ”.
